Contact your lawmakers
The most powerful way to influence our legislators and the laws that affect us is for small landlords and all small property owners to write them or email them and state your opposition to (usually) or support for (rarely) specific legislation. Most effective is to state your position in your own words. But you can use the information we give you to help you formulate your own ideas. Always identify the legislation you are talking about, including any bill numbers, if possible.
In Massachusetts, to find your own Massachusetts representatives and senators, to go:
www.sec.state.ma.us/wheredoivotema
You should also send your statement or "testimony" to the Massachusetts Governor:
www.mass.gov/forms/email-the-governors-office
Some issues are local. Go to your local municipal government's website to find information on pending local legislation and contact information for your local elected officials.
In other states, please go to your state government's website where you can:
-
Find what legislation is currently being considered, and
-
Find the function that allows you to determine who your specific legislators are -- your state representatives and senators.
For local issues in other states, go to your local municipal government's website to find information on pending local legislation and contact information for your local elected officials.
